And relax....

After a hectic 2 weeks in which i had the same amount of bouts, today I am enjoying (yes I am) my aches and pains from yesterdays A Midsummer Night's Scream bout. As the captain of Team Montague in the cherry popper bout, our team was succesful in beating the Capulets in an amazing match which was very close in the first half. It is amazing that a group of roller girls from all over the country got together and we gelled as a team so well.. I love Roller Derby!!
The week before that I was fortunate enough to guest skate with the lovely Liverpool Roller Birds chicks team against Newcastle's Whippin' Hinnies. We didnt win that bout, but really got the taste for bouting and I am so glad I did as these birds are lovely ladies..

On another note, when training I always have the problem of when i drink a lot of water, I will need the toilet at least once and still feel dehydrated even getting head aches. While on the Derby Dancing blog I read a post on hydration and she talks about coconut water, because it has a high amount of electrolytes (they help the body to maintain hydration levels) it is a better source of liquid for hydration then water. At the bout with the Liverpool birds, I used half coconut water and half water for hydration and it worked quite well, I never felt dehydrated and no rush for the toilet. At yesterdays bout I added 100 ml of pressed fruit juice (the not "not from concentrate" stuff) to 300ml of coconut water to make it taste better and again it worked a lot better then just water ever did for me. I may use it for training now as well.

Hiya!!

ok, ok... I joined the legions of people with blogs.. I have been thinking about this for awhile, particularly since the amount of misinformation about nutrition and exercise.. I hope to post useful (with scientific background) information that can help improve everyone knowledge about nutrition and diets, exercise and how to get fit. Feel free to contact me if there is a specific subject you want me to investigate/post about.

I will also blog about my journey as a Roller Derby girl.. I started in November last year with an amazing bunch of girls from the Manchester Roller Derby and have enjoyed my progress to get to grips with the skating and the sport and am looking forward to my first official bouts in June. More on that later.

I also love to craft. I mainly sew, at the moment Roller Derby hotpants, toe guards and everything else Roller Derby.. But I promised my other half, to make some skirts as well.. I recently managed to get some awesome supplies for glass tile pendants, so I will be working on some images to put behind them.. Once done I'll show them off on here

Right that's enough for now.. I need to do some more revising for my Exercise Physiology exam tomorrow..
